The Selsdon Junior Lionesses have proven themselves as a force to be reckoned with. Despite being formed just last year, they’ve already made an indelible mark on the Tandridge League Premier Division. These young stars have shown incredible skill and determination, clinching the challenge cup and earning a promotion from the 1st division. After reaching the finals for the Challenge Gold Cup Trophy, they came runners-up and achieved an overall 2nd place finish in the league. This is an incredible accomplishment for the team and a testament to their hard work and dedication. Their perseverance and talent have made the entire community proud, and we eagerly anticipate their future successes.

Achieving success against the odds

The Lionesses’ rise hasn’t been without its challenges. Injuries and setbacks, including the loss of their goalkeeper to a broken leg, have tested their resolve. Yet, their tenacity has seen them through, proving they are not just talented but also resilient. The girls’ ability to overcome these hurdles and still perform at such a high level is nothing short of inspirational.

“Since the girls formed last season, it’s been a great experience filled with a rollercoaster of emotions. It’s been a pleasure taking the side and seeing them develop. With some of the girls never playing competitive football, it just shows how focused and determined they are to develop and move onto the next level in their football journey. All of this with injuries and the loss of our goalkeeper who broke her leg early on in the season.
