Bespoke foam stools
Elevate exhibitions with custom foam solutions: How Kewell Converters partnered with the National Maritime Museum
The problem
The National Maritime Museum faced a specific challenge with their new exhibition aimed at children. They needed seating that wasn’t only functional but also engaging and visually appealing to young visitors. The stools had to be durable enough to withstand frequent use while being comfortable and inviting for children. Additionally, the museum required the stools to blend seamlessly with the exhibition’s aesthetic, adding a pop of colour and creativity to the space.
The solution
Kewell Converters approached this challenge by leveraging extensive expertise in foam products. We collaborated closely with the museum’s design team to understand the specific requirements and constraints, having worked with many of our clients in-house design teams. We went through the following process:
Design consultation
Kewell Converters engaged in detailed discussions with the museum’s designers to gather insights into the exhibition’s theme, colour scheme, and functional needs
Material selection
The team selected high-quality, child-friendly foam materials using Plastazote and Evazote, from the Zotefoams Azote range of materials that were durable, easy to clean, and safe for children
Custom design
Kewell Converters designed unique stool shapes and sizes that would be both comfortable and visually appealing. The designs led by our CAD design team included vibrant colours and playful shapes to attract children’s attention.
Manufacturing
Once the designs were approved, Kewell Converters manufactured the stools with precision ready for the exhibition launch.
Results
This collaboration yielded outstanding results. The foam stools enhanced the overall experience for young visitors. The colourful and uniquely designed stools attracted children, encouraging them to participate in research tasks and interact more deeply with the exhibition
